The brief

The British Homing World, published by the Royal Pigeon Racing Association, stands as the UK's premier weekly pigeon racing publication.

 

The newspaper was transitioning in size from US letter to tabloid so the design and layout was to be revamped to provide readers with a fresh, updated look. Taking advantage of the new larger size meant enlarging both images and text would be essential to enhance readability and ensure a more enjoyable viewing experience for the readers. Templates needed to be created for the team to produce this publication on a weekly basis.

The outcome

I developed user-friendly templates accompanied by comprehensive style guides for the artworking team. Recognising the time constraints faced in assembling a large weekly publication, I prioritised simplicity in the design. The templates featured pre-set layouts for regular pages, complete with columns ready for seamless integration of copy. I created standardised advert sizes and a media pack for advertisers and designed repeatable adverts for the team to drop in.
